Scripture :

14 Jesus said, “Let the little children come to me, and do not hinder them, for the kingdom of heaven belongs to such as these.”- Matthew 19:14

Context :

The Little Children and Jesus

13 Then people brought little children to Jesus for him to place his hands on them and pray for them. But the disciples rebuked them.

14 Jesus said, “Let the little children come to me, and do not hinder them, for the kingdom of heaven belongs to such as these.”

15 When he had placed his hands on them, he went on from there.

Observations :

In the Bible story of Jesus and the children (Mark 10:13-16), parents bring their children to Jesus for a blessing, but the disciples try to turn them away, believing children are unimportant. Jesus rebukes the disciples, stating, "Let the little children come to me," and affirms that the kingdom of God belongs to those with childlike faith.

  • The Disciples' Action: The disciples feel that Jesus is too busy teaching adults to be bothered by children.

  • Jesus' Response: Jesus becomes indignant (upset/angry) with the disciples, emphasizing that children are valuable and worthy of his time.

  • The Blessing: Jesus welcomes the children, lays his hands on them, and blesses them, showing them deep love and affection.

  • The Lesson: Jesus teaches that to enter the kingdom of God, adults must have the same humble, trusting, and innocent faith as a child.

This story is found in Matthew 19:13-15, Mark 10:13-16, and Luke 18:15-17

Application :

As parents, grandparents, aunties/uncles, big brothers and sisters ; your job is to teach the kids you have in your hands, you are like parents to them.

Why tv shows ?

  1. Good for kids who cannot read yet but need to hear from God and the Word of God,

  2. can replace tv shows, Netflix etc who are sometimes too « woke » for children.
